Industries with more strategic buyers/less sponsors?
Which industries tend to see relatively more transactions with strategic buyers instead of sponsors? Or if it's too hard to generalize on an industry level, which specific sub-sectors? I think I would prefer to work with corporates instead of PE.
Biotech / pharma
Biotech m&a is pretty much all strategic buyers.
Biotech especially pre clinical or early clinical.
Telecom, Oil & Gas and Social Media come to mind
In general, the more monopolized an industry is, the more likely it is that it will only be strategics and PE-backed strategics.
