International Working on a 1 Year Visa (OPT) Looking for Advice
Hey guys,
Recently started as an IB analyst in New York on a year one visa (OPT). I have another shot at the lottery next year (maybe two attempts), but the chances are really low. If I am unable to get the visa, I would ideally like to be relocated to London / Canada (my bank has presence in both countries - not sure how big my group is in both country).
I like my group (also interned last summer) and try to do good work, get along with people, etc,. How should I position myself to ensure I am in a position in one year? Should I also try to network with other banks in London/Canada in case my bank is not willing to relocate me (would also be open to other FO roles if my bank has no IB headcount / ideally would like o stay in IB)?
Also have the option of getting a STEM masters and come back to my bank / re-recruit (however, heard recruiting is pretty difficult at the masters level). Have a decent profile - non-target school, but 4.0 GPA, double major, etc,. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
