Internship Cancelled Resume Advice

Well, my internship got cancelled and I'm gonna be working as a Seasonal Warehouse for a large American multinational food and snack company. I'm going into my 4th year and was wondering how I can spin warehouse experience to land a decent gig in MO or FO.

Thank You

Sorry to hear about the internship, tough break.

I worked full time in a warehouse for 2.5 years of college. During a few MO interviews (non-target OCR) I was able to use some variation of the following talking points:

  1. Maintaining, monitoring, and understanding the importance of operating controls = inventory (basically the point of MO)
  2. Have some resume metrics prepared such as, “reduced mis-shipping / inventory mis-calculations by xx%” (Even if you make some sort of guess).
  3. Maybe some “mgmt skills” like coordinating shipment arrivals, producing daily reports, re-tooling some flawed process
    • the usual soft skill / professional experience type of stuff

FO is quite a bit more challenging and the angle would be more along the lines of “knowing for sure you never want to go back to a warehouse.” I suppose you could also pull the industry insights card (i.e. If you want to be a healthcare banker and you are working in a medical supplies warehouse). Also, pray you can meet a senior banker with a blue collar background who respects the grit.

Good luck

I would bring it up in the interview as a "respond to failure or challenge" type of thing if you did in fact respond to it in a way that challenged your personal growth, but not put it on the resume--seems like too cheap a move.

Might have read wrongly, I thought he meant the cancelled internship, as in "INTERNSHIP - WAS ACCEPTED FOR SUMMER PROGRAM WITH XYZ DUTIES BUT GOT CANCELLED DUE TO COVID19". I would definitely put the warehouse internship.

I definitely had a question about this myself. In the event my internship gets cancelled, and I had a solid firm lined up, would it not add some credibility to my resume if I have it on there, at the time of full time recruiting?
