Jefferies VS Macquarie

Hi everyone, I got offered summer interns in Jefferies IBD and Macquarie IBD, both in London. What would you choose -between Jefferies IBD Healthcare team and Macquarie IBD Infrastructure? Could you give me some insight into cultures of each firm etc?

Those are both top groups mate, depends what industry you like best. Have friends at Macquarie and seems the return offer rate is higher (could be wrong). I don't work for either so in terms of culture all i can say is that it seems to me that Macquarie is more jovial, there's a larger contingent of australians (obviously), asians and brits while jefferies is a bit more competitive and 'American" for lack of a better word. Macquarie also has their infrastructure fund thats top notch and could be a natural transition for you if you're interested

Infra: low risk, low reward. HC: high risk, high rewards. Tech: Very high risk, Very high rewards.

Infra will be forcing you to go in big funds, can be PE or pension funds, it is usually better hours, but lower pay.

HC funds can be pretty chill but can get hectic if working on a deal. HC is needed regardless of the current economic stability, in addition to the growth expected due to the ageing population in the UK.

I spoke with with an infra MD in an EB previously, and he told me he regrets doing it cuz deal making in infra is difficult, and while it is a stable industry, it doesn't have the growth we see in TMT and HC.
