JPM Continental Europe VS Citi LDN

Title says it all.

Grad of Top MFin in the UK (LSE / LBS / Oxford) with couple of Internships before.

Offer from both - for Graduate position.

What do you guys think? What about Exits / Prestige / Network?

Thanks!

JPM Milan Yes

JPM Madrid Good

JPM Others not sure

If Italian/Spanish and love your country and like the sun and have friends in those cities - would probably take them. Otherwise Citi. JPM Milan/Madrid is known to be a good training ground and analysts always move over all the time

Depends on your goals.

If your long term goal is London PE then definitely take Citi, as London's reputation far exceeds that of coverage/regional teams in European peers for London PE. Ultimately, most banks have their London office hold the pen while the regional teams manage the relationship.

If you are looking to become a coverage banker in the region of the continental office (say DACH) then take JPM.

My goal is to go PE Megafund.

Couldn’t you start from top bank regional office (e.g Madrid / Milan) and then move ?

Definitely possible if you move internally to their London office then recruit for MF PE from there, but could be tricky to move within JPM to London in the first place.

Some MF PE shops have offices in Madrid/Milan so if you are looking to join those then JPM would be stronger. But ultimately as aforementioned, the modelling and execution of EMEA transactions will largely happen in London, with regional offices merely acting as support/regional coverage/relationship management teams.
