Lateral or move to UMM P/E prospects in London

Currently at a MM bank (think eg RBC/HSBC/Wells Fargo) in London, within Infrastructure M&A coverage. Worked on deals between 1 - 10bn EV. How hard to lateral to BB or move to UMM P/E or Megafund based on these deals.

No BB is hiring at the moment at junior levels. From discussions I'm having it seems that seniors expect hiring might pick up again post 2Q '24. When it does, it won't be so much about the size of deals you've done but rather your overall involvement in these and ofc your interview performance/ how you stack up with competition. People would be fine to hire someone with smaller or less deals completed if they had proper involvement and fit well with the team etc., so flashy deals are good to have but not the most important part (speaking from experience as well). Now MF move from these banks you mentioned seems very far fetched if I'm honest but will get the MM PE opportunity for sure
