Lateral to Canadian M&A Group

Hey guys, I have seen threads on here before about making the move to another shop but it seems most of them are geared towards being in the US, so I was hoping to gain some insight on what that process looks like in Canada.
 

Currently in a M&M Group but want to lateral over to an M&A group at another Big 5 Bank or National. Is the process similar to landing a SA position where I should be firing out networking emails again or just reach out headhunters (which firms are actually reputable?) directly.
 

If you have lateralled to any group before even outside of M&A it would still be great to hear how you landed that role!
