London - LinkedIn network message
UK Market (London) - I've always been sceptical about the effectiveness of networking on LinkedIn, especially with complete strangers. I often worry it might be awkward or even counterproductive. Can you prove me wrong and share some templates or examples that have been effective? Many thanks 🙏
This is a long winded way to ask people to do your work for you.
In a typical linkedin note (which is what you use if you don't wanna pay for premium), there's only like 150 characters to use. Not much more you can say than Hi, I'm X, Im interested in Y, time for a call? Thanks
I'm genuinely sceptical about it and not trying to fish for templates I can use afterwards, as it's really not my style - I prefer to initiate contact in person first, rather than cold-messaging. Having said that maybe keeping it short as you suggest can be effective, as it sparks curiosity.
I mean someone sending you a template isn't going to prove you wrong any more than me simply telling you it can/does work.
Barely any students reach out to me on email. It's mostly linkedin. And I'll tell you, the reason I answer has nothing to do with curiosity but more altruism as long as they don't say anything stupid.
