London Banks
I’m a sophomore at a non-target (which has a program that sends about 30~ kids a year to top shops) and I’m wondering what my chances of landing a seat in London at a bank. I’m also wondering what banks I should be looking at in London, if so. I have a good understanding of banks in NYC, CHI and LA, but no understanding of banks in London.
As a clarification, the program we have ( I am part of) we send kids to range of banks including ny bb. We are also target for some banks, mostly top mm.
EBs are not as prevalent in London and none of them compare to GS/MS/JPM. That being said Rothschild is a lot stronger in London and is, alongside Lazard (and increasingly PWP and Evercore) one of the only true EBs here. Think Roths is like number 1 in deal flow but to be fair, they're mostly MM deals.
I think most people would put Laz/Roths on par with Citi or around there with other boutiques falling short outside of niches like HL Rx etc. GS is generally the top shop.

EDIT: If you're going to London bear in mind you'll be taking a pay cut and have less exit ops compared to NYC.
Thanks, that clears it up. I’m assuming mm banks don’t have as much of a presence?
