London BB and Territorial Army? Impossible?
I have always been impressed by and envious of people who have served their country in the forces, especially combined with a successful career in banking.
I have recently been offered a position at a BB (M&A) in London and am sure I will be working crazy hours. Would joining the TA be possible? How would the bank view this? The commitment would be 9 weekends per year, 2 weeks in the summer, and a few evenings. Would this be possible?

legally they can't do anything about it - they have to give you the time off. Depending on your boss though, you might not make yourself popular.
They will never make you VP or MD, thats for sure
Surely the leadership skills learned and experiences would put you in a great position to manage later on in your career?
If you were TA when you joined, you should be fine. Joining after getting the offer will be problematic. Unless you're down at Regent's Park with 21 SAS. In which case, most pople will have the good sense not to give you any shit about it.

Thanks for the response GenghisKhan. 21SAS or 4PARA is exactly what I would do. I have the offer to start in July. If I joined the TA now would that be a problem? What if I was deployed? Does anyone know anyone else who has done this sort of thing?
