London language requirements

Is it really true that in London, to get a seat at a BB/EB you need to speak another language in addition to English?

Sure it will give you an edge, but in my current role at a mid market firm, whenever we do come across the BBs etc they are almost always continental European of some sort. Not even that many Americans let alone Brits!

Appreciate this may depend on product/sector. I’m in securitisation/debt financing
