Looking to break into FIG- networking request/tips and advice

I currently work in asset servicing at a pretty large custodian bank in London. I went to a no name non-target university and I got a 2:2. Took me about 8 months or so to get this job after graduation, and since then I’ve been trying to build my network whilst also building on my knowledge and experience. I am working towards an industry qualification (CISI) and I’m due to be done next year this time hopefully. After giving it a lot of thought, I am hoping that I can get into FIG either from the banking side or non-banking side. Our bank does have a FIG department, but I would have to more than likely relocate abroad to the US. I guess my question would be, what can I do to increase my chances of breaking in from a back office (but still a client facing position) to a front office position with my skillset and credentials. Also, I would like to connect with anyone that works in FIG specifically people from boutiques and so on. Ps- FIG (Financial Institutions Group) Thanks.
