Which firm do you think is better in terms of analyst experience and chances of breaking into private equity in the future? Merrill Lev Fin vs. Lazard. Both positions are in NY.

take Lazard, hands down. PE shops have a lot of respect for Lazard analysts because of the amt of responsibility the firm places on them (flatter structure, less people, still notable deals)

restructuring is the best group at Laz, and they place well in distressed debt shops like Oaktree, but their other divisions are good too...
