Is it appropriate for BB IB associates in London to attend evening football matches during the week? Would be AFK from 6:30-11pm.
I expect the answer to be no, but am keen to get views from London bankers.

In the US, but I go to a few weeknight sports here and there when I know there is not an immediate deadline and know there will be coverage from other juniors on the team. I would not make a weekly habit of it, but if you reach out with enough advance notice and have someone covering for you (plus available on your phone) I'm sure you could make it to a match or two with nobody complaining.
I'm based in London and would second what the poster above said. It wouldn't look good as a weekly habit out of it, but you should be able to do it perhaps once a month or so (maybe sometimes say it's a dinner, which is much more widely accepted). You should, however (1) manage this and let other know you won't be around, and (2) prioritise work if there's an urgent deadline
5 hours will never make a difference in any deal process. IBD is such a sorry excuse of a profession.
