Middle office really that easy to get into?

Hi guys, people often joke on here that if you know basic math and don't drool on yourself you can get into a MO role at a BB. Some numbers came out for the number of applicants and number of spots in functions for a BB and it was 4k applications for 75 spots which is approx 2% acceptance rate. I know that the candidates were probably weaker but from the ones I've seen most came from top 15 unis.

Seems like MO/BO is becoming much more selective and competitive than before.

“Destiny is a gift. Some go their entire lives, living existences of quiet desperation, never learning the truth that what feels as though a burden pushing down upon their shoulders is really a sense of purpose that lifts us to greater heights. Never forget that fear is but the precursor to valor, that to strive and triumph in the face of fear is what it means to be a hero. Don’t think. Become.”
