Nomura IBD Internship

Hi,

Nomura London recently opened their applications for 2025 SA Class, as well as 6-weeks 2025 Graduate Analyst Scheme.

According to the Careers Website, Summer Analyst Programe is dedicated to students graduating in 2025 and 2026, whereas 2025 Graduate Scheme is open solely for 2024 graduates.

I am fresh undergraduate (graduated in August 2024) and I am commencing Master's Degree at target university in Europe (starting 2025, graduating 2026). Theoretically, I am eligible for both.

If interested in Nomura, should I apply for SA or Graduate Scheme? Which one would give me a better shot?

Based on previous WSO threads, here are some insights that might help you decide between applying for the Summer Analyst (SA) program or the Graduate Scheme at Nomura:

  1. Eligibility and Timing:

    • The Summer Analyst Program is typically aimed at students who are still in school and will graduate in 2025 or 2026.
    • The Graduate Scheme is designed for those who have already graduated or will graduate in 2024.
  2. Experience and Exposure:

    • The Summer Analyst Program offers a shorter, more intensive experience, usually lasting around 10 weeks. It provides a good introduction to the industry and can be a stepping stone to a full-time offer.
    • The Graduate Scheme is a longer-term commitment, often lasting around 6 weeks, and is more comprehensive. It is designed to transition you directly into a full-time role.
  3. Career Goals and Fit:

    • If you are looking to gain experience and potentially secure a return offer for a full-time position after your Master's, the Summer Analyst Program might be more suitable.
    • If you are ready to start a full-time role immediately after your Master's, the Graduate Scheme could be a better fit.
  4. Reputation and Exit Opportunities:

    • Both programs are well-regarded, but the Graduate Scheme might offer more immediate exit opportunities since it transitions directly into a full-time role.

Given your situation as a fresh undergraduate starting a Master's program, applying for the Summer Analyst Program could provide you with valuable experience and the opportunity to secure a return offer for a full-time position after your Master's. However, if you are looking to start working full-time sooner, the Graduate Scheme might be the better option.

Ultimately, consider your career goals, the timing of your education, and which program aligns best with your aspirations.
