Oxford Maths - Rejected from all springs, couldn't get past HVs...

Applied to all of the global markets, investment banking, and quant spring weeks out there but I couldn't get past any of the HireVues/OAs or initial resume screening... Also by HireVues I mean like automatic ones that everyone gets. What am I doing wrong??? Is it because spring weeks is a big diversity festival?

I don't have much finance experience... But, I'd rather pursue research over working at a really small company that no one's heard about in the summer. Is it really necessary?

I don't want to repeat the same tragedy next year for summer analyst applications (which starts in couple months)

hahaha you are good bro for summers. Do the research placement. Springs suck and they are totally not necessary for SA roles if you are target.

As long as you know your shit you will get into r1 for processes. This is actually quite an impressive profile and in 99th percentile for springs.

I imagine HR saw this and thought it to be too good and polished and gave offers to DEI candidates instead

Not really that surprising. Going to Oxford will help, but it's not the smoking gun a lot of people like to think. Even number-wise, Oxford doesn't really top other schools in the UK when it comes to IB analyst placements, then consider all the EU schools. This article puts it into numbers if you're interested  - how many applications you need to maximize your chances of placing - simple probability calcs based on real numbers.
