Personality test question for summer analysts/jobs

Hey guys, I was wondering what the companies are trying to evaluate in terms of personality when they ask something along the lines of "do you agree that it is right to flatter someone to get what you want" or "saying nice things to a colleague to get them to like you is right". I have seen variations of this question appear in many of the job assessment questions I had for summer analyst recruiting. Never really thought much of it and clicked strongly agree but now I'm thinking this might have worked against me as genuine people are valued more? just wondering as it s not as clear cut as those team work questions (eg you like to work independently more than as a team)
