Ranking and headhunters

Do PE headhunters really know about your rank in your class / performance (London)? If so how? And how can it not be biased if they just ask other candidates?

Thanks for the insights in advance

In my experience HHs will ask but don't really ask any follow up Qs if you just tell them top bucket.

FWIW, I wasn't lying to them but I don't think they would have known if I was. The HH was just sort of like "Great! Love that".

I almost kinda got the impression that bluffing is, maybe not full on encouraged, but certainly tolerated. At the end of the day they just wanna place candidates, and if you lying about being top bucket makes that process easier and/or more likely, I'm not sure they'd call you on it even if they had a hunch you were BSing.

Oh and also, this only ever happened once out of like five different interactions with HHs. So to answer OP's question, in 4/5 cases I was never asked about my "bucket" or rank. The one time I was asked about it, the HH was recruiting for an UMM PE gig, which I didn't get, because the liberal elites conspired against me.
