Recruiter said I'd hear back within a week. It's been two weeks now. Should I reach out?

Hi everyone,

I think the title says it all. I had a final round interview for a spring insight programme in the UK. 2.5 weeks ago, an HR rep and a banker did my final round interview and I thought it went well. They told me at the end that they were still interviewing candidates and would get back to me with a decision at the end of the following week (interview was on a Wednesday). By now, however, they're more than one week late and on other forums, there are people claiming that they already got an offer. One person said (s)he got their offer yesterday - no idea when the interview of that person was, though.
Now, I'm not sure what to make of that. After all, they wanted to get back to me with a decision by the end of last week so if they had made up their mind about rejecting me, I don't see a reason why they wouldn't have told me by now. On the other hand, if they have already sent out offers, maybe they don't bother sending out the rejections? Maybe I was good but not as good as other candidates and they want to see a couple more alternatives?

What's your take on this, should I send a quick email asking them politely when I can expect to hear back? Thank you in advance.
