Renege at BB - Scared of Background Check Dinging me
Reneged an offer at a BB.
When accepting my new offer, they asked for a referral list to which I did not list any current employees at my ex-firm.
They also asked for my consent for a background check (as standard)
My issue:
I know they will find it a bit odd that I did not list anyone from my job and I’m sure they will reach out to them to ask how I was as an employee.
Will I be fucked over by my prior firm for renege? I’m kind of worried as if I end up getting dinged, I have nothing else lined up and will have to begin living off my savings.
( I did not tell employer about me reneging)
In the same situation so would like to hear thoughts on this as well. In my opinion, I believe that most reasonable employers shouldn't care too much as reneging is really between you and the prior firm and can happen due to many different reasons.
