My gf works in the TMT team at Roths London. Her hours aren't great, she has to work weekends, however, her team is good culturally and they seem really nice and not too pretentious.

I spoke with some people who are/were in the FIG team, I would say that is the worst team there and this is why:

  • A couple of years ago they hired in a partner from GS to head up the FIG team. Grew it into a 50 man team with nothing to show for his efforts as those who headed up fintech and insurance were outbilling him. This means analysts and associates that were working under him were overworked and had no closed deals to show for it (some of them ended
    • This also lead to a few of the team members pulling all nighters a fair few times, which was considered a big no-no, however, still carried on.
  • The partner himself was nowhere to be seen in the office, would miss most of his meetings meaning the analysts and associates had to take the brunt of it, would join calls on his bed in a shirt (very strange) - anyway, he's retired now.
  • The team itself has massively gone down hill. Some of the best associates / ADs have recently left or got sacked. Team has gone from that 50 man team back down to around 20 or so. Mental.

Most of the other teams are fine, bar the usual M&A requirements.
