Science Po Master’s in Finance and Strategy

Hello!

I am planning on applying to Science Po’s Masters in Finance and strategy for the 2025 intake. (As an international student)

I would like to know your thoughts on the program and the uni in general. (Wants to break into IB)

Note that I can’t afford the big bus schools in france nor the UK.

Thanks!!

I did my undergrad + master at ScPo, it is a good school. But the finance program (some of my closest friends did that master) is not so well-regarded (bad placements, weak academics/faculty, horrible career services especially if you want to break into IB). I’d try to avoid it but it also depends on your goals/background.

If you want to break into IB, avoid it (the french banks / EB/ BBs in Paris dont value business degrees from ScPo that high

If you have the profile but not the financial means to study at HEC/ESCP or UK targets, try to apply for scholarships / student loans, it will be worth it

If that is not an option, try to look at other European targets/semi-targets with strong finance programs (Bocconi, HSG, Mannheim, WHU, SSE, Rotterdam), they’re all better than the ScPo alternative

If you still want to do a masters at ScPo, try to look for Double Degree options where the 2nd year school has a good business/finance program. You will still get the ScPo brand + the brand from another school as well as their finance reputation. How about the costs you might ask? You’d pay the same amount as any other international master student at ScPo, and then your second year tuition depends on the other school (SSE is low / Columbia is high for example)
