Sharing Comp with Recruiters (UK)

Recruiters in the UK seem super pushy to get comp data out of you, I was wondering if most people share comp details on the inital call or do not disclose.

How do you guys say I wish to not disclose in a professional manner!

Background is I'm at a BB but have found I'm underpaid compared to my other colleagues at my level...

How come are you underpaid? Asking with genuine curiosity, because I’ve always been convinced that the base for analyst, associate roles is always the same, like it’s even online…

Personally (admittedly I'm more senior so the context is slightly different) I always share. There's very little downside to doing so, and it helps build a relationship with a recruiter (as well as comp you versus others as another user has pointed out, and determine whether a role is suitable for you). A lot of this industry (I mean IB / PE, not recruitment specifically) is about exchanging information appropriately.

Give them a range and inflate it slightly (add 10-20%).

They use it to benchmark you vs peers at your bank to see which bucket you are.

They also use it for their end of year comp surveys.

I certainly wouldn't be giving my bonus comp to a recruiter on a first call.
