Should I reach out further up

I finished up interviewing for an AN1 position 3 weeks ago. I felt that broadly speaking, all of my interviews went well and that I had a solid chance at an offer.

Since then, crickets. Have consistently kept in contact with HR who have told me that they're still finalizing decisions, application still under review etc. etc. but have given me nothing else specific. Importantly, through my own research, I've found that no one seems to have received an offer yet.

One of my final interviews was with an MD who I felt I had a lot in common with and with whom I had a great conversation. He also seems to have a great reputation across the firm. Would it be prudent to politely reach out to him and ask where they're at at? Or could it hurt my chances?

A follow-up to a senior on the team can be helpful if you haven't messaged them already. That's what pushed me over the edge to get my offer after waiting a few weeks for a response

Awesome, thanks. Was it a quick follow-up or a bit more detailed / personal?
