Summer Intern Tax Query
I'm interning this summer and my total pay is just shy off the current threshold of £12,570. However, as I am being paid this across 3 months, it will appear that I am earning above the threshold and will therefore be taxed (I assume).
If that is the case, is there anyway to inform HMRC to not tax it as I will only be earning that much for a fixed period, not surpassing the threshold. Or, will I have to wait until the end of this fiscal year to reclaim what I have been taxed?
Any help is much appreciated.
They will automatically assume you will cross the threshold as you earn well over 2k a month - you’re gonna just have to wait for the tax refund mate. It’s a good thing honestly because it’s like locked away savings and it’s not a huge sum where you would need access to it immediately (unless you have personal circumstances where you do!)
