The intern groupchat is already making me spiral.
We started a group chat for the incoming class and I’m already regretting joining. People are casually dropping messages like "just finished modeling a mock LBO for practice" or debating the nuances of specific sector trends. Meanwhile, I’m just trying to pass my finals and haven't opened Excel in a month.
Honestly just mute it. Sounds like performative anxiety to me. Half of those kids are prob lying, and the other half are going to burn out before training week even starts.
If you are actually worried about the technicals, just spend a weekend on a prep tool like WSO or Cook'd. It'll help cut through the noise because you are actually doing the job instead of just talking about "sector trends" in a group chat.
This is it. Mute the GC. No one likes the hardos who think they are the most knowledgeable person in the sector at age 20 with exactly 3 months of work experience in their life. We all way prefer the normal people (trust me there will be plenty, they just aren't the ones having a dick measuring contest in this group chat)
Best analyst in my analyst class wasn't a finance major and was literally learning Ctrl + C on the first day of training. Brush up a bit if you want but don't worry
Sounds like a bunch of weirdos
act retarded/unprepared to assert dominance
The loudest people in the group chat are usually the worst analysts on the desk. Focus on your finals. Once those are done, you can catch up on the technicals in like 3 days if you’re smart about it.
Don't waste time reading books. Use a tool like Cook’d to simulate the actual modeling tasks. It’s way faster than a video course because it forces you to execute the build. If you can get through a few of those sims, you’ll be more prepared than the kids debating "trends" who can't actually balance a balance sheet.
Hi cook’d ceo ur cooked
Agreed with the prior comments. These people are trying to flaunt their preparation as a way to cope for them feeling nervous and underprepared. The most successful analysts hit the desk with a great attitude, are coachable, and work hard.
Wait until those kids realize that, even in M&A groups, 70%+ of your job is PPT + email + tracking workstreams…
Does most of your analyst class come from Stern?
No one does this, they're ragebaiting u
