Thoughts on Jefferies? (London)

Hi,

I was wondering what the market thoughts are on Jefferies. I’ve noticed they’ve made a fair amount of redundancies over the past year which I guess is a cause of concern?

what’s everyones views on them? How do they compare with the other mid market firms like William Blair, Baird, elite boutiques like Lazard, Evercore and the bulge brackets?

How’s deal flow?
Hours / culture?
How’s compensation?
How do they stack for exit ops into PE?
What are their top sector teams? (Preferably in London)

Open to overall discussion but would prefer for London specially.

Thanks

Great firm. Really busy in TMT/HC/PUI - insane dealflow and pay, no cap on bonuses, heard analysts getting similar bonuses to top EBs. Exits are quite good - a guy in TMT left for Softbank. A similar firm would be Rothschild - a lot of MM deals and every here and there a large deal. Jefferies imo sits above all of the MM firms you listed, an is a bit below all the EBs. You can't really exit to MF/UMM PE given the deal sizes that you focus on but MM PE/GE/VC are frequent. Culture is work hard party hard (if you have time).
