Anybody here pull the NYC->London transfer off for a BB? How realistic is this transfer? Where is it on the spectrum of just mentioning to HR and as long as you're solid it will happen, to the stars have to align and you have to be under the wing of a senior banker who transfers there. Is it harder/easier for associates vs. analysts?

Definitely realistic. Actually, one of my old friends' managers was in London and he asked to transfer there from NYC.
Find a group that is managed from London. It will help if you have an MS; that means you can also get a Tier One visa.
What about from London to NYC?
Actually, my friend that transferred to London is now trying to transfer BACK to NYC. It's an interesting story.
Def. wil help if you work for a global firm, have friends in the US, and have a US Passport.
What is a reasonable time before one should expect to be granted the transfer? Is a 2nd year analyst stint overseas unrealistic?
