US Student studying in UK (UCL) - Breaking into US IB

As the title says, I am currently a master's student at UCL. As an American citizen, just how hard would it be to apply to US finance roles considering they seem to recruit mainly from US schools? Is it impossible? Is it even worth putting the time in to apply?

Also an additional question; if I applied to London office roles, would it get automatically rejected if I applied the same roles in the US for the same company? Thank you in advance.
