Want to pivot into tech M&A been out of IB for over a year. Advice?
Was in pubfin at a middle market bank, got laid off in 23’ before I could make a jump, job searching was brutal, got an analyst gig at a corporate law firm in Q4 of 24’ that works with hedge funds and banks, but my interest has always been in tech M&A and I want to gain the professional experience for it.
My current strategy was looking for lower to middle-market boutique firms that specialize in tech M&A in nearby states then think about B-school. What is the probability of success with this route? Am I screwed? Is there light at the end of the tunnel? Should I just go for a masters in finance instead? I have been networking since being laid off but my funnel fails at getting any responses. Granted, Q4 24’ no one is hiring but even so now?
