What group to join at UBS LDN right now?

So,

I’ll be joining UBS as a SA in their London office this year and was wondering what the certain vibe is regarding the groups. Heard a lot of good stuff about TMT, as seen in existing threads on here, but right now with the CS merger and everything, I was wondering whether things may have shifted.

Thx in advance for any insights!!:)

Ah, the jungle drums are beating about UBS London! Based on the most helpful WSO content, TMT (Technology, Media, and Telecommunications) has historically been a strong suit for UBS in London. However, you're right to consider the potential changes due to the Credit Suisse merger. Such corporate shake-ups can indeed shift the dynamics within the bank.

While I can't predict the future, I can tell you that traditionally, groups like TMT, M&A, and Consumer are often mentioned with positive notes regarding deal flow and exit opportunities. It's also worth noting that in London, the prestige of specific groups might not be as pronounced as in New York, but there are still some groups that stand out.

To get the most current vibe, I'd recommend networking with current employees and keeping an eye on recent developments within UBS. This will give you the freshest insights into which groups are thriving in the current climate.

And remember, when you're swinging through the trees of high finance, it's not just about the group you're in, but also how you leverage the opportunities you're given. So, make sure to maximize your learning and build strong relationships no matter where you land. Good luck, and may your summer be as fruitful as a banana grove!
