What is the difference between consulting targets and IB targets?

Are they the same thing? I can't find an actual list for consulting…the first result that comes up doesn't seem great. Posting on IB side because you all are more active. And I’m interested in both

There isn’t really a difference/ undergrads severely overstate it. The truth is there are highly ranked academic institutions and ones that are less highly ranked. If you at a top 10 school, more students might go to IB versus consulting or vice versa, but both are going to likely have solid recruiting pipelines/ opportunities. Generally people will say things are targets more one way than another because specific firms consistently get individuals from certain academic institutions. For example, my bank always would have like 4-5 slots they reserved for kids from my school. That said, it is considered more of a consulting target because many go into consulting from the school.

I don’t know why you care/ whether you are in hs or are stressing about your ability to get a job coming from a certain school, but I really wouldn’t worry about it. A student that goes to a school that has less of a rep at a firm will still get a solid shot if other parts of their resume is up to par.
