Which hours can be expected in London IB (lateral consultant)
See title. So many different intel on this. In general, what hours could I expect working in a well reputed London based BB?
Particularly interested in:
- Do people leave earlier on Thursday/Friday?
- How long do people stay on avg. Mo-Wed?
- How common is it that banks expect to work on e.g., Sunday?
lol.
Let's put it like this. All the numbers of hours/week that people say on this site, none of them are lying. Unless you happen to just be in a nice team, expect 80 hours as your average. Pretty hard to do those hours without working late almost every weekday and some of your weekend.
Damm. I am currently pulling Mo-Wed 9-10.30 / 11ish , Thursdays around 8 and fridays around 6. No weekend work.
Seems like I will be shafted immensly by switching to the M&A advisory side.
Well that's why you get paid less in consulting
Yeah but I've always thought the propagated hours are more peak / crunch phase (e.g., similar during a stressfull DD with a demanding PE client in consulting).
So you're telling me pretty much the norm is to stay past midnight everyday except friday?
During crunch time expect hours to be significantly worse when you are on deals.
Yes.
People are rarely exaggerating or baiting. 70-80 hours is the norm. The 100 hour weeks you hear of, that's crunch time.
