Which job should I choose now if I want to end up in IB??

Hello everyone,

I hope you are all having a good holiday season. I am stuck in a dilemma regarding the next step in my career, I am really hoping some insight from you guys will be helpful. I am currently working as a Data Analyst with The Economist Group, where I work on forecasting models. I have recently been offered a role with PwC's transaction advisory service. I want to move into Investment Banking going forward, I don't know which job role will take me towards IB. PwC is a big name in finance, but analytics is also an up and coming field that is more futuristic. Should I leave The Economist to join PwC? I will be joining London Business School in 2021, after which I wish to move to IB. which job role will help me in achieving this, please advise. Thanks!

Merry Christmas!

To be honest, your current role sounds very interesting!

But, if you're set on IBD and you're going to LBS, your best move would be to go to PwC, get the relevant experience and then use it when recruiting from LBS. It can be quite difficult to recruit from one year MSc programmes into IBD if you don't have some kind of relevant experience. I can't comment on whether Analytics or IBD is the best way to go.
