who gets staffed on marquee deals?
at your bank, which analysts get staffed on the biggest deals? Is it whoever is available / has capacity or whoever is the most dependable / strongest or ideally a combination of the two?

I've had a few 40 hour weeks now because the largest deal our bank has ever done is getting ready to kick off and I've been told I was kept off other projects in anticipation for it.
ok so it's not as if you need to be strong/dependable.
I don't believe that's the case for me but in certain situations, yeah.
I'm being staffed with a FOB MBA ASO so, I'll let you decide.
It's a mix of availability and the strongest teams. They can de-staff your other projects to some extent, but if you are deep in the weeds on something live, it's tough to detangle.
You definitely have situations where weak analysts end up on mega deals with a superstar ASO because there is just no capacity at ANL. Especially in 2021 when everyone in the group was probably working on a mega deal - also happens in summer when teams are down to one class of analysts
