Why are interviews so technical in Paris, even for internships?

Hi folks,

I was wondering why Paris IBD interviews were so technical.

Not only in EB or French Bank, even in MM boutiques or BB.

80%-90% of the interviews is technical based, and the interviewers go as far, if not even further than what they did for US or UK FT in both PE or top teams.

What's the point? And how can you even expect to succeed if you're not French?

I interviewed with Lazard and one of the top BB in Paris. Although it was 75% technical, it was not as advanced as you described. Nothing that threw me off

Because of the french training website which popped up in the last 5 years (AlumnEye, Training You) which subsequently enhanced the base technical level of interviewees
