Why FT Partners?

I have an interview coming up with FT Partners and I am sure the question of "why FT Partners" will be asked. There are a couple of things that come to mind, such as they are one of the best boutiques on the street, they have a great culture of mentorship/camaraderie, and juniors get to work on a ton of M&A deals. Are these talking points good enough or are there other things about the firm I should mention?

Should be fine, maybe find out what kind of teams they have (product group or industry group) and just say that’s your preference as well. Find any little thing you can, although, this question is generally just BS.

I always just talk about how I networked with people and they told me so and so. You could talk about the entrepreneurial spirit of working at a fast growing boutique. Lean deal teams providing the best exposure ypu can get to the fintech space as an analyst.

Say something showing your focused on the future, not just where they are today. Mention how capital one hired 8000 software engineers (random example) and most if not all banks have accpeted that fintech and fully digital banking is the wave. Also just an FYI they do alot more cap raise activity than flat out M/A. Feel free to PM if you want info on interviewing with them, I got to a final round sueprday with them about a month ago.

Acccepted offer at a different firm and told them before they got back to me (actually forced myself to consider culture and WLB instead of whatever paid the best) so never actually found out. I'll be honest and go with likely not, the conversation/energy didn't feel as good as the earlier rounds.

It always blows my mind how many times this gets asked. If you can't honestly answer with a reason then why would you even bothering doing the interview?

Edit: FT Partners exclusively does Fintech. You should be interested in the bank because they do…. only Fintech

FT partners might be the easiest firm to answer this question for. The reason you would work for them is because you’re interested in/want to work in fintech
