Will 2021-2022 application cycle be even more competitive?

Apparently 2020-2021 application cycle has been extremely competitive - I saw people with very strong backgrounds and test scores got dinged a lot. Just wondering what you guys think about the upcoming 2021-2022 cycle?

On one hand, most of schools are not going to save that many spots for deferrals after this year and it seems our economy is recovering, but on the other hand many competitive international candidates who were not able to apply during 2020-2021 cycle due to Covid will probably apply during 2021-2022.

What do you guys think?
