advice for rising freshman

I am going to university next year, most likely going to be in the UK. I am interested in finance but I don't have any work experience other than volunteering work at a non-profit. I am trying to get university students to join business related competitions together this summer, but they are reluctant since I'm since in high school. What should I do to learn more about finance? Any book recommendations? I didn't study business subjects in high school.
