Breaking into IB from TAS / FDD background then -> PE -> HF

Hi All,

First post here. WSO is great and has given me some helpful insight into the industry.

I am a first year M&A Transaction Advisory Associate working in FDD (financial due diligence) at a boutique consulting firm (think BRG / A&M) about 9 months in the job. My work primarily consists of working directly with PE shops, Strategics, and Start-ups performing  buy-side / sell- side Quality of Earnings deliverables (risks of business, opportunities, etc.). I want to get out of the industry within a year because I dont want to be stuck here. I went to undergrad at a school outside of the Boston area (think Bentley / Babson). I'm looking to break into a top IB and am currently doing a MSF at the moment at a target (think Georgetown / Vandy). Would it be possible to break into IB / PE FT as an analyst within the next 3 - 6 months in NYC at a BB or EB?

Undergrad GPA: 3.6

Grad GPA: 3.95

x2 Asset management internships (one at a BB and one at a family office) and a Real Estate PE internship

My current role does not involve any modelling but Ive gotten quite good at excel / PPT in terms of shortcuts.

What I was thinking is connect with analyst / Associates / VP's / MD's that went to my schools and network via linkedin and recruiters. Is this reasonable?

Does anybody have any advice or recs / thinks its doable / think its not doable?

Any feedback would be appreciated, thanks to all in advance!!
