Career Advice for ER / AM & NYSF / Amex Advantage Program

Hi all, I'm thinking about pursuing this program for next fall, as it seems like a great way to gain relevant internship experience that could turn into a FT job. So far landing interviews has been pretty tough, as recruiting has been pretty down for the type of position I am looking for (ER/AM). I think the biggest obstacle that I have encountered seems to be relevant experience, which is the main reason I am thinking about this program.

A bit about me... I'm currently finishing my MSF (GPA 3.0-3.3 range), passed CFA Level I, and have almost 2 yrs of work experience at a BB in the back office. I'd like to break into equity research or Asset Management after graduation, and am currently trying to focus on a couple sectors that I'm interested in (energy & healthcare), and I also have invested myself (~10k) and can speak to my investments. I hope to try and find an internship in NYC this summer.

I have been networking a ton and will continue to do so this spring. If you have any advice for my specific goals, or knowledge about placement from the NYSF program, or have taken it yourself, I would greatly appreciate your input. Thank you!

The NYSF is probably not worth it, unless you want to go into IB. I'm an undergrad who was considered NYSF; however, I am not going to enroll because of the high cost. In my opinion, the NYSF is for people who have little to no experience in finance and have no work experience either. Thus by completing the program, they gain both financial knowledge and work experience. If you are completing your MSF and have worked for a number of years in finance already, even in a BO function, I think this program will be highly repetitive and not targeted towards what you want to do.
