Coffee chat in London?
Do investment bankers actually have time or willing to put effort into connecting with students or fresh graduates? What's in for them? If not what is the best way to network from a student perspective with no direct connection with the industry who is trying to avoid a cold application.
Any application advice are welcomed
Are we from the same niche country? Did we go to the same high school? Do we have common close friends? Did you write a well-written email and not the most generic crap ever? Do you have an interesting background?
If the answer is yes to these questions, then I would have a coffee catch-up. If not, then no.
I get pretty good responses reaching out on linkedin to people who went to my uni. They usually answer questions or offer to call. Keep in mind networking in the UK isn't really for pushing/referring your application it's more to make it look better e.g. namedropping in CLs, HVs, interviews etc.
