Connecting with people you havent met on LinkedIn

Context: I am a rising sophomore at semi-target. Because of my dad's previous positions on wall street, I am privileged to have some major connections with some CEOs, CFOs, group heads, and MDs My question is whether or not it is appropriate to connect with other MDs even if I haven't met them (I have 3+ mutuals that would be incredibly rare to have; i am probably the only kid my age in the US to be connected to these people). I am not trying to come across as conceited (I am very fortunate and grateful for the position I am in)

you are wayyyyyyy over thinking the Linkedin side of this, no one gives a shit about who you are connected with. Many MDs, CEOs, etc will accept anyone. LinkedIn is not a big part of the recruiting process except to find people to email - you already have them, forget about LI.

your dad just needs to get you in touch with these people who then pass you onto the recruiting team. Can they do a 15 minute call and then introduce you to "anyone else they think you should talk to?"

You're in a great spot with these connections, but use them properly - LinkedIn will do nothing for you

I totally get what your saying and thanks for the response. But these aren’t your run of the mill connections. Think group head of IB at top BB and CFOs of top 10 tech company.I know these people personally, just wondering if there’s a differnece between connecting with people you know vs don’t know. Thanks tho.

I know exactly what you're saying, now go look at how many connections those people have and it's probably in the thousands or 10s of thousands and PLENTY of them will be students. The LinkedIn stuff is not really a flex, it's not like you have to be personal friends to be LI friends with someone, and having those LI connections alone won't help you at all. Random MDs will almost always accept the connection response but will not respond to an email which is the important part

i'm telling you how you have to do this: get your dad to do a little intro and get you on the phone with these people and get a direct referral instead of trying to use this LI side door that does not exist. not trying to be abrupt, it's great you have this opportunity but don't waste your time doing stuff wrong
