Considering a Move to London – Advice from Those Who’ve Done It?
Hey everyone,
I’m currently working for a Canadian bank on the corporate banking team in Toronto as an associate. I’ve recently been offered an opportunity to transfer to our London office, and my company will be handling the logistics, legal, and accounting aspects of the move.
I’m in my mid-20s and live with my girlfriend, so this would be a big change for both of us. We’re excited about the possibility, but I’d love to hear from those who have:
- Moved to London from North America – How has your experience been? What do you love (or not love) about living in London? How has the work-life balance been compared to North America?
- Moved away from London – What were your reasons for leaving? Do you miss it, or do you feel like it was the right decision?
Company has advised it would not need to be a permanent move, but minimum 2-3 years.
I’d appreciate any insights, whether it’s about cost of living, social life, weather, career opportunities, or anything else you think is worth considering. Thanks!
I would for sure do that just for the life opportunity. I would try to get a hard timeline on when to move back, though.
