DCM intern to Coverage/M&A intern
I'm currently interning at one of the largest balance sheet banks in Europe (top 10) as a DCM - IG intern and I was wondering how easy it would be to find another internship but for coverage or M&A positions. As I am a bit worried that even though its investment banking it's not related to M&A and many services in coverage groups and I do not want to pigeonhole myself immediately as a DCM banker after graduation. I took the DCM internship as I literally got no interviews for any coverage/M&A group at banks.
Personally, for me it wasn't an issue (actually it made for a pretty good why x group answer) since you can just say how you appreciated the work and learned a lot but did not want to work with debt all day. I moved to a MM coverage and know other people who lateraled during their FT job.
