Deciding between BB quant jobs

I have a STEM PhD and got two quant job offers. One is in model risk in top tier BB in NYC (TC ~240k) and the other one is in a Treasury and ALM group in a mid tier city (TC ~170k).

While the NYC job sounds better, me and SO really liked the other city (never lived in NYC). It has affordable housing market and a better environment for starting a family. From what I heard, WLB is likely to be somewhat better in ALM job. I liked both teams during the interview and I think I'll be happy working in both groups.

Since I am transitioning career, it is hard for me to judge the pros and cons of the two jobs in terms of career growth. I like finance and in the longer term plan to continue as quant/manager. But If things don't work out, I can go into a career in tech as well (data science, ML).

I am looking to get some perspectives before making the decision. What considerations will you make if deciding between the two jobs and which one will you pick?
