Do I do a take an interview for a job I'm unqualified for?
I've been offered a job interview with a senior manager at a PE firm, however feel I will be unprepared without adequate time to prepare for a paper LBO (vital uni exams). Also, the job requires certain experience that I don't really have.
On one hand, why would the invite me for an interview if they didn't want to consider me for the role; on the other, I don't want to make a cock of myself and perform poorly.
Is it rude for me to cancel? What should I do?
Reschedule and prepare your ass off. Sometimes you get interviewed because something catches a resume screener’s eyes. Now this could have been HR or the investment team. You are in the category of let’s give this guy a shot in any case. Just do your best and at minimum you should walk away with practice interviewing and some industry knowledge. Ask good questions if you get the chance.
