Feeling hopeless about SA 2022 recruiting. Thinking about working minimum wage and going back to basics.

100+ applications, 250+ cold emails and speculative applications, 15+ coffee chats.

Not a single interview.

Top 10% of the class of 400 students. Finance society leadership position.

University tuition taken care of already so I’d graduate with no debt. If I’m going to spend 100 hrs a week, I want to do something that I’m genuinely interested in. If not, I’m thinking of going back to basics, work minimum wage and figure life out.

Thoughts?

Couple of things: 1) Have you done any research into your applications and chats to identify any common threads (good and bad)? 2) It's not exactly upbeat to hear, but this may not be the only time in your life you'll experience this.

And don't go back to basics. If you're not going to wind up on the specific track you want, at least try and find something on a parallel track in the same industry.
