Getting a job in London?
I recently spoke with an internal lateral hire from the London office in a different IB group at my company’s cafeteria. He had said something about how finding jobs in London seems to be more difficult than in the US.
Does anyone have any insight on the IB application process is in the UK and how it’s different or supposedly more challenging than in the US?
Perhaps it's because there are less seats but also everyone from EMEA trying to get in
Why don't you ask him?
Finance is probably the only industry that pays anything similar to US levels in the UK and so you tend to see much more demand for each job posted, plus we get all the Post graduate continental Europe students competing for those spots too. Also referrals makes virtually no impact and so it’s harder to differentiate between candidates.
The market is being quite brutal over here atm. Massive layoffs (GS, Citi, etc.) + massive pool of graduates struggling to get a seat.
